Import Decimate

The Import Decimate option in the File menu is identical to the Import option except that the input data stream is decimated while it is being imported. All of the supported import file formats can be used with this option. Use this option when you wish to reduce a large number of data points to a more manageable size, or when your data set exceeds the program's maximum of 65536 points.

As an example, processing a 10,000 point data file with n=20 and beginning with the first data point, would result in a data set containing 500 points, each point representing a sampling from a twenty point sequence in the original data stream.

The n for the decimation can range from 1 to 999 and the starting point can be any within the extent of the data. Note that setting n=1 and starting at point 1 is the same as using the standard Import option.

Large WAV Files

Use this Import Decimate option with n set to 1 and an appropriate starting point to extract a portion of a WAV data stream whose length exceeds 65536 elements.
