3D Graph Scaling
This option is available to all of AutoSignal's 3D surface graphs. The 3D Scaling dialog consists of a reduced mesh (10x10) plot which will reflect the changes to the plot's scale. The graph will initially be drawn with minimum information and after a couple of seconds of inactivity, the plot will be updated to reflect the graph type and view options. The Scaling dialog is used to set automatic or manual scaling, logarithmic scaling, to select an automatic zoom, and to set the lower limit, upper limit, and division count. Each axis is configured separately.
Automatic and Manual Scaling
In most cases, automatic scaling should produce an attractive appropriately scaled plot. When the scaling isn't exactly as desired, the Auto checkbox can be unchecked. This will deactivate the automatic zoom control and activate the Min, Max, and Divs entry fields.
Logarithmic Graphs
The Log checkbox is used to toggle a logarithmic axis. You may have a log axis in both automatic and manual scaling modes. In manual mode, you can specify non-integer power of 10 upper and lower limits if you like. With automatic scaling, the upper and lower limits will always be an integer power of 10.
Automatic Zoom
In automatic scaling mode, you may zoom out an axis using the Zoom scrollbar. The zoom ranges from 1.0 to 10.0. This will increase the given axis by up to 10 if the axis is linear. If the axis is logarithmic, the range will increase by alternately adding and subtracting a power of 10 from each limit.
Manual Entries
In manual mode, enter the minimum for the axis in the Min edit field, the maximum value in the Max edit field, and the number of divisions in the Divs edit field. The number of divisions is the number of visible individual divisions, not the number of axis tick marks (one higher than the division count).
Saving and Reading Custom Scaling Files
You can Save the current custom scaling to disk. Files are saved in binary with SCL extensions. To read a previously saved custom scaling, use the Read button.
Restoring Defaults
The Reset button restores full automatic scaling.
